About this tool
Passport and ID photo requirements are dimensional: a fixed physical size at a minimum print resolution, with the head occupying a specified proportion of the frame. A US passport photo is 2×2 inches (51×51 mm); the standard used by the UK, the EU and most other countries is 35×45 mm.

Frequently asked questions
What size is a passport photo?
The United States requires 2×2 inches (51×51 mm). The UK, the Schengen countries and many others use 35×45 mm. Both should be produced at 300 DPI or higher for printing, which is 600×600 px and about 413×531 px respectively.
How much of the frame should the head fill?
For the US standard the head measures 1 to 1 3/8 inches from chin to crown, roughly 50–69% of the height. For the 35×45 mm standard the head is typically 29–34 mm, about 70%. The guides in the tool mark these ranges.
Can I take a passport photo with my phone?
The dimensions are the easy part and this tool handles them. Acceptance usually depends on the things it cannot fix: an evenly lit plain background, no shadow behind the head, no flash reflection in glasses, a neutral expression and both eyes open and visible.
Will this photo definitely be accepted?
No tool can promise that, and any that does is overselling. This produces a correctly sized, correctly framed image; the issuing authority judges the rest. Check their current published guidance before submitting.
